Walking safaris
Leave the vehicle behind and spend time with tracks, plants, birds and the smaller details that are easily missed at speed. Walking brings the landscape into focus through pace, sound and the knowledge of the guide and scout accompanying the group. In Liwonde, walks reveal floodplains, fever trees and mopane woodland; on Nyika, forest trails and grassland paths offer a different way into the high plateau.
Guided walking safaris are available from Mvuu Camp, Mvuu Lodge, Chelinda Camp and Chelinda Lodge, and are for guests aged 18 and above. Times and combinations depend on weather, season and the guests taking part. For Nyika, bring warm layers throughout the year, rain protection in wetter periods and closed shoes or hiking boots.
