Boat safaris
Move slowly along the Shire River and experience Liwonde from water level. Boat safaris open views of banks, lagoons and reedbeds, with hippos surfacing, crocodiles resting along the banks and birds moving between river and woodland. Available from Mvuu Camp and Mvuu Lodge, they offer a different perspective from a drive or walk on land.
As the drier months progress, vegetation becomes more open and wildlife is increasingly drawn towards remaining water. The green season brings fresh growth, changing river levels, dramatic skies and abundant birdlife. There is no minimum age for boat safaris; timing and suitability are planned around conditions and the guests travelling.
