Our post-covid world finds us stronger than ever. The positives of this time have included getting to know the team better; working together to rebuild; introducing sustainable ideas; appreciating this fragile slice of paradise; and, most importantly, slowing down. Adaption is the name of the game, and we have emerged stronger, more focused and determined to ensure security in the future for our staff, guests and wildlife – the pillars of our organization.
Constantly evolving, developments in camp and lodge are steaming along. Our kitchens continue to offer up incredible food – keeping up with the times and impressing our guests with delicious dishes.
As something different, the Namagogodo Retreat is a new concept consciously developed for those with a passion for the bush. Ideal for a longer stay, the Namagogodo Retreat suits groups, friends or couples wanting a totally secluded environment with private safaris, intimate dining opportunities, three superior chalets set apart from the rest of the lodge, a lagoon setting with savannah backdrop and a private Boma. At Mvuu Camp, our important history is now documented in the little Mvuu museum – camp guests can delve into a wealth of historical information during their afternoon in our refreshing swimming pool. A new watering hole just outside our camp dining offers an oasis for animals large and small, and a wonderful viewing experience for guests.
With thanks to the introduction of a variety of wildlife – including wild dogs, elephant and lion – game viewing in Liwonde has never been better! Regular sightings have included black rhino, sable, cheetah, large herds of buffalo and the elusive lion as well as an abundance of impala, kudu, waterbuck and elephants.
Our ever-changing river frontage provides a varied habitat for an incredible range of feathered friends. Weavers, black crowned and white backed night heron, bittern and green backed heron, kingfishers of all kinds including the seldom seen half collared, giant, pied and malachite to name a few. There truly is nothing better than a sunrise coffee, the dawn chorus and a spot of birding on the banks of the Shire!
