Nyika’s open views make wildlife easy to spot. Expect herds of zebra, eland and roan, frequent hyena sightings and a strong chance of leopard on night drives. Birding is superb year-round, with wattled cranes, Denham’s bustards and forest specials in the miombo. Activities include guided game drives, walking safaris across the high plateau, birding outings and scenic picnics at lookouts and dams. The best time for game viewing is the dry season (May–October) when grass is short and sightings peak; the green season (Nov–April) brings wildflowers, dramatic skies and excellent photography. Tell us your interests—photography, walking, family travel—and we’ll build a Nyika safari around them.

A little about you

When would you like to join us?

Please leave the date fields blank if you do not have specific dates in mind. Please make us aware of the month you would like to travel in the Further Details box at the end.

Tell us about yourself

In a few words, please tell us about yourself and why you would like to volunteer for Central African Wilderness Safaris.

How it works

1

Choose the lifestyle level you wish to carbon compensate (travel, business, daily life).

2

Root to Fruit will calculate the level of carbon emitted during your chosen activities.

3

Based on your carbon emissions, Root to Fruit will calculate the number of trees needed to sequester the total emitted amount of carbon, thus offsetting your activities and leaving you carbon neutral.

4

You are invited to purchase the recommended number of trees, which will be raised in one of our dedicated tree nurseries in the northern region of Malawi.

5

Root to Fruit will take care of the rest! Your trees will be planted by trained community members and monitored throughout their growth, to ensure their survival.

6

Once planted, Root to Fruit will provide you with a certificate that includes the exact GPS coordinates of your trees. Check out the location of your trees online; or better yet, why not plan a trip to Malawi and enjoy this wonderful country while relaxing under the shade of your very own trees?

We look forward to
welcoming you...
