We recently welcomed a new manager into the CAWS fold – Ian D’heygere, who has taken over at Chintheche Inn. Originally hailing from Brussels, Ian left to go traveling in 2011 and headed to Malawi where he’s stayed ever since. Having experienced a number of different roles within the country’s tourism sector, Ian is well placed to oversee all aspects of life in Chintheche Inn.
“I’m delighted about the new role at Chintheche Inn. I have been wanting to join the Central African Wilderness Safaris team for a while, and finally found the perfect opportunity. After experiencing life in the capital for the last five years the opportunity to live by Lake Malawi was a no-brainer! I’m so excited to be getting stuck into life at the Inn – under my management people can expect the lodge to be looking as sharp as a knife and the service to be better than ever.” Ian D’heygere
Guests from all over the world can look forward to a warm welcome from Ian, who is able to speak Dutch, French, English, German and Chichewa and is trying hard to become fluent in Tonga as well. As a classically trained percussionist and drummer, he is also keen to bring a musical element to Chintheche so guests can expect some laid back jazz playing at the bar and maybe a few live bands once in a while!
